Nicaragua: First, a walk on the beach.

I have been to Nicaragua so many times, it is beginning to have a "home" feel. I recognize the streets and businesses in Managua, I say "oh that restaurant is new" in Granada, and I know just where to find the whiskey in the grocery store. Yes, whiskey is "comida" here.

This morning I am having my extraordinary cup of coffee in the hammock on my deck with a view of the ocean. The waves are nicely formed and sending off a spray and the surfers are numerous. A huge bird just passed in front of me but I am unable to recognize it. The magpie jays chirp good morning.

I arrived yesterday afternoon. I visited my dentist for a teeth cleaning and repair of my chipped front tooth all for the price of one month of dental insurance. Then the drive here to Rancho Santana with a stop at that new sushi restaurant in Granada... the drive up vegetable stand and, of course, a stop at the super marcado.

Today we will work at the gallery to process the artwork I have 'muled' here and prepare for the show tomorrow of works on paper by Denis Nunez...the large life size characters with surreal and provocative elements.

But first, a walk on the beach.
